Rechecking of patients affected by HSE scan issue could be completed in a matter of weeks.
Diagnostic facilities in Private Hospitals across Ireland could be used to recheck all the patients affected by the NIMIS system fault discovered earlier this week according to the Private Hospitals Association (PHA).
Reacting to comment by HSE Director General Tony O’Brien, PHA CEO Simon Nugent said \”There is no reason why the rechecking of affected patients should increase delays in Ireland’s long public waiting lists as the HSE is suggesting. We would be happy to work with the HSE to schedule the necessary imaging procedures – X-rays, MRIs and CT Scans – in fully equipped private hospitals across Ireland. The necessary scans could be undertaken in a matter of weeks without placing any additional burden on the public system.\”
Mr Nugent added that he would expect the costs of resolving this problem should be covered by the vendor at fault or their insurers so there should be no difficulty finding the resources to undertake the rechecks promptly..
